Ornamental Features

Majestic Heaven Lotus Tree features showy clusters of fragrant creamy white cup-shaped flowers with yellow eyes and shell pink tips along the branches from mid to late winter, which emerge from distinctive rose flower buds. It has attractive dark green evergreen foliage which emerges light green in spring. The large textured oval leaves are highly ornamental and remain dark green throughout the winter. It produces tan capsules from early summer to early fall. The fruit can be messy if allowed to drop on the lawn or walkways, and may require occasional clean-up.

Landscape Attributes

Majestic Heaven Lotus Tree is a dense multi-stemmed evergreen tree with an upright spreading habit of growth. Its relatively coarse texture can be used to stand it apart from other landscape plants with finer foliage.

This is a relatively low maintenance tree, and should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season's flowers. It is a good choice for attracting birds, bees and butterflies to your yard. It has no significant negative characteristics.

Majestic Heaven Lotus Tree is recommended for the following landscape applications;

  • Accent
  • Shade

Planting & Growing

Majestic Heaven Lotus Tree will grow to be about 30 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 15 feet. It has a low canopy with a typical clearance of 3 feet from the ground, and should not be planted underneath power lines. It grows at a slow rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 60 years or more.

This tree does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. This plant does not require much in the way of fertilizing once established. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in sandy soils. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. This species is not originally from North America.
